All peoples have right to peace

“ We must douse the fires of extremism and tackle the root causes of conflict.” This from UN Secretary General Ban Ki- Moon during last month’s International Day of Peace.
Ironically, the very next day (September 22) the United States and its allies unleashed 200 airstrikes and tomahawk missiles on Sunni militant targets in Syria and Iraq.
President Barack Obama said this was just the beginning. “We’re going to do what’s necessary to take the fight to this terrorist group,” he said.
The so-called Islamic State flouts Islamic principles. Islam means a commitment to live in peace through submission to the will of God (Allah).
In 2004 President Obama said: “I have a deep faith. So I draw from the Christian faith.” Is not Christianity about peace and goodwill to all?
